More than 55,000 Marvel movie-themed items sold at movie theaters nationwide, including Captain America popcorn buckets and Fantastic Four cups, have been recalled due to a battery issue that could harm customers.
New York-based importer Golden Link recalled about 55,350 of the popcorn buckets and cups, which were manufactured in China, the company shared on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.
The products have built-in LED lights powered by button cell and coin batteries. The products violate consumer product standards because children can easily access them and ingest them. They also lack warning labels required by law, Golden Link said in the announcement.
“If button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can
cause serious injuries, including internal chemical burns, and death,” the company wrote.
The company said there have been no reported injuries as of late July.

“Consumers should stop using the Fantastic Four Cups and Captain America Popcorn Helmet Containers immediately and contact Golden Link for a refund of the purchase price of the product,” the company wrote. “Consumers will be asked to dispose of the product and send a photo showing proof of disposal to productrecall@goldenlinkinc.com to receive a refund.”
