Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany was discharged from the hospital Oct. 28, five days after he collapsed at club facilities and was rushed to receive medical attention, according to the club's sporting CEO Max Eberl.
Kompany previously had shared that he was battling a viral infection, and a club statement explained that Kompany had suffered the medical incident while watching a reserve training session.
"He was discharged from the hospital today. That's the biggest and best news for all of us," Eberl said on ARD before the club's DFB-Pokal cup match against second-division Magdeburg.
Eberl cautioned that Kompany won't be returning to work immediately, noting that he will have the time away that he needs while Aaron Danks and Rene Maric lead
the first team. But he expressed confidence that Kompany will be able to return to work soon now that the cause of his collapse was diagnosed.
"I am very, very sure that he will soon be back on the sidelines at 100 percent," Eberl said.
Bayern Munich players and fans will eagerly await his return but were able to have one happy reunion Wednesday.
