They say everything is bigger and Texas – and that is certainly true when it comes to high school football stadiums.
One of those stadiums will be on full display when two of the top high school football programs in the Lone Star State – Duncanville, No. 16 in USA TODAY Sports' Super 25 rankings, and Allen
– face off at Eagle Stadium at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, Aug. 28, to open up the 2026-27 Texas high school football season.Eagle Stadium, built in 2013 for $60 million ($80M inflation adjusted), is not only one of the most expensive high school football stadiums in Texas, but in the whole country.
So, what exactly does an $80 million facility get you?
How many seats are in Eagle Stadium?
The stadium can fit 18,000 fans, with 9,000 seats in the home side grandstands, 5,000 seats in the visitor
side grandstands and 4,000 seats in the endzone across from the massive scoreboard. A majority of the seats are regular bleacher seats, but there are 6,500 seats with backs that can be reserved.
How big is the scoreboard at Eagle Stadium?
The scoreboard is one of the biggest in all of high school football. Sitting at 75-feet long and 45-feet tall, it's hard to miss the jumbotron that displays high-definition replays, live game stats and graphics throughout the game.
Is there a pressbox at Eagle Stadium?
Yes, there is a three-level press box at the stadium that is 15,356 square feet and has an elevator to get between levels. Located on the first level are both the home and visitor coaches' booths and radio booths with telephone lines. All video is taken from the top level, or the Film Deck level.
Are there locker rooms at Eagle Stadium?
There are two locker rooms in the facility with 74 lockers in each and an attached training room.
Do any other teams play at Eagle Stadium?
Other high schools frequently play at Eagle Stadium during the Texas UIL playoffs. According to the Eagle Stadium Information and Regulations brochure sent to USA TODAY, the stadium manager, Jeff Chaney, will use the following criteria to reserve Eagle Stadium for playoff games:
- Both teams must be 100 percent assured of their playoff match up.
- Both teams must give verbal notice to the Stadium Manager as soon as they agree to play at the stadium.
- Teams must sign the Eagle Stadium Facility Use Form and return (fax) to the Stadium Manager as soon as possible.
Are there concession stands at Eagle Stadium?
There are four different concession stands located at the four corners of the stadium. All concessions are retained by Allen Independent School District.
What is the parking like at Eagle Stadium?
There are 5,034 parking spaces located outside of the stadium. There are 57 Handicap parking spaces spread out across four different entry gates.
