Many Trump aides on Capitol Hill have a unique relationship with the president; per reports, several even have unprecedented access to the inside world (and wardrobe) of D.C.'s leading man. More specifically, the president's shoes.
A now-viral Wall Street Journal report details that President Trump has a reputation for gifting his favorite shoes, the Florsheim Cap Toe Oxfords, en masse to White House aides, advisors and seemingly anyone who finds themselves in the Oval Office with the salesman-in-chief (read: leader of the free world).
“All the boys have them,” a female White House official reportedly told The Wall Street Journal, while another joked: “It’s hysterical because everybody’s afraid not to wear them.”

What are President Donald Trump's favorite shoes?
So, why do top Trump aides keep getting these leather Oxfords gifted to them? It's impossible to say for certain, but the shoes do tick all the boxes you'd expect President Trump to care about: they're American-made, designed from a heritage shoe brand (Florsheim, which was founded in 1892 in Chicago) and with a market price of $145, they're definitely cheaper than other market options. And we all know how much Trump loves a good deal.
Below, see why these Trump-approved shoes have become a staple part of Washington's MAGA uniform.
What to know about President Trump's shoes
- Available in four color options, including: Black, Black Smooth, Cognac and Brown (Tucker Carlson was reportedly gifted a pair of brown wingtips himself).
- The shoes are crafted from a leather material that's been sourced from a tannery with a Gold or Silver rating for environmental responsibility by the independent auditing group, the Leather Working Group.
- Fully cushioned with a removable footbed.
- Available in two different width options (medium or wide), as well as standard US men's shoe sizes ranging from 7 to 18.

Why does Trump love these leather Florsheim Oxfords so much?
Why, indeed. The obvious explanation is that they're American-made, reportedly comfortable and they certainly wouldn't be the first thing Trump has shown a fervent loyalty to (Diet Coke, golf, etc.).
Interestingly, the WSJ report isn't the first time we've learned of President Trump's fascination with footwear. Back in December 2025, Vice President JD Vance candidly recounted a moment when the president had abruptly shifted a policy conversation to instead focus on footwear.
"The president kind of holds up his hand and says, 'No, no, no, hold on a second. There’s something much more important. Shoes,'" said Vance, in a video posted by Benny Johnson on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025. Trump then "peers over the Resolute Desk" and says: "Marco, JD, you guys have s----- shoes. We gotta get you better shoes."
How much do Donald Trump’s favorite shoes cost?

Why Trump aides keep getting oxford shoes gifted to them
Again: Why, indeed. Per the WSJ report, the White House confirmed that the president pays for the shoes himself—even going so far as to sign the shoe box or attach a note before gifting them.
Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick are reportedly among the top Trump aides who have a pair of their own—no thanks to Trump.
