There wasn't a ton of shockers when it came to the east coast's top programs last week.
There were a few matchups pitting members from the Super 15 against one another but no major upsets as the best of the best in the region took care of business. One new North Carolina team has entered the mix.
Here are USA TODAY Sports' Week 7 East Region Super 15 rankings.
1. St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD)
Record: 4-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 2, at Legacy School of Sport Sciences (TX), 7 p.m. CT
The Panthers were off last week.
2. Hough (Cornelius, NC)
Record: 6-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, vs. Garinger (NC), 7 p.m. ET
The Huskies jumped out on top of West Mecklenburg (NC) early and never let up. They scored 37 first-half points en route to a 44-0 win.
3. Grimsley (Greensboro, NC)
Record: 5-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 2, at Varina (VA), 7:30 p.m. ET
The
longest win streak in North Carolina reached 36 games last Friday as the Whirlies crushed Western Guilford (NC) 63-0. Grimsley has outscored its first five opponents 196-16 this season.
4. Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, NJ)
Record: 5-0
Next game: Saturday, Oct. 3, at Bergen Catholic (NJ), 1 p.m. ET
If there were any doubts regarding who the best team in New Jersey is this year, the Ironmen put those doubts to rest Friday night. In a rivalry showdown with St. Joseph Regional (NJ), the Ironmen were ahead by halftime and never looked back in a 23-10 victory.
5. The St. James Academy (Springfield, VA)
Record: 4-0
Next game: Saturday, Oct. 3, at IMG Academy (FL), 7 p.m. ET
The Strivers have yet to play a close game this season and carry a lot of momentum into next week's matchup with IMG Academy. With a 50-6 win over Cardinal Ritter College Prep (MO), the Strivers have scored 50 or more points in each of their games.
6. St. John’s (DC)
Record: 4-1
Next game: Saturday, Oct. 3, vs. Cornerstone Christian (TX), 2 p.m. ET
Another week, another showdown with another top school from another state. This week though, the Cadets weren't as fortunate as they suffered their first loss of the season to St. Edward (OH), 22-21.
7. Central Catholic (Pittsburgh, PA)
Record: 5-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 2, at Mt. Lebanon (PA), 7 p.m. ET
Since opening the season with a 15-point win over Bergen Catholic, no other team has come within striking distance of the Vikings. That trend continued into last week as they beat Seneca Valley (PA) 62-0 for their biggest win of the season.
8. Providence Day (Charlotte, NC)
Record: 5-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, vs. Ambassador Christian School (NC), 7 p.m. ET
The Chargers enjoyed a balanced offensive onslaught in their 34-14 win Friday night. Gavin Bronikowski threw for 287 yards and a touchdown in the win while Ethan Dempsey scored on two of his three rushing attempts.
9. Roman Catholic (Philadelphia, PA)
Record: 2-2
Next game: Friday, Oct. 2, at Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic (PA), 7 p.m. ET
The Cahillite were off last week.
10. DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD)
Record: 4-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 2, vs. Mt. Zion Prep Academy (MD), 7 p.m. ET
The Stags faced a bit of a test against Riverdale Baptist (MD) on Friday, only leading by eight at the half. That lead continued to grow in the final two quarters as they picked up the 28-12 road win.
11. Varina (Richmond, VA)
Record: 4-0-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 2, vs. Grimsley (NC), 7:30 p.m. ET
Since their Week 3 game with Oscar Smith (VA) was called early due to weather and ended with a tie, the Blue Devils have been on a tear. This week it was Henrico (VA) that stood in their way and suffered a 49-7 loss.
12. Iona Prep (New Rochelle, NY)
Record: 4-0
Next game: Saturday, Oct. 3, vs. St. Anthony’s (NY), 1:30 p.m. ET
In a battle of New York's top two programs, the Gaels made it back-to-back wins over Monsignor-Farrell (NY). Iona Prep trailed at the half by two before scoring 17 second-half points and holding the Lions scoreless over the final two quarters to secure the 24-9 win.
13. Bergen Catholic (Oradell, NJ)
Record: 2-2
Next game: Saturday, Oct. 3, vs. Don Bosco Prep (NJ), 1 p.m. ET
The Crusaders were off last week.
14. Weddington (Matthews, NC)
Record: 6-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 2, vs. Marvin Ridge (NC), 7 p.m. ET
Scoreless after one, the Warriors found their offense scoring 21 points to close out the half against Sun Valley (NC) on Friday. They added two touchdowns in the third and another in the fourth to secure the 42-0 victory.
15. Catholic Memorial (West Roxbury, MA)
Record: 3-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 2, at Brockton (MA), 6 p.m. ET
No dramatics needed this week for the Knights after they escaped a high scoring overtime showdown a few weeks back. They faced off with Viera (FL) on Friday and rolled to a 42-12 win.
