It's a scenario that plays out from time to time in soccer: A goalkeeper goes up for a corner kick with his team trailing late in a game. The opponent quickly gains control of the ball and races down the field for an empty-net goal.
But on Wednesday, Sept. 30, Detroit City's Kobe Hernández-Foster put his own unique twist on that scenario.
With his team up 2-1 over Brooklyn FC in stoppage time, Hernández-Foster chested down a loose ball off a corner kick and then launched a shot toward an empty net from the top of his own penalty area.
The ball had plenty of velocity at first but with nearly the entire length of the field to travel, it began to slow down as it neared the goal. But even with a Brooklyn player desperately chasing after it, the ball just
crawled over the line for an incredible goal.
