Officials are denying reports about Sean "Diddy" Combs' alleged hospitalization over the weekend.
TMZ and People previously reported that the disgraced music mogul, who is currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence
at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, was rushed to the hospital on Saturday, Oct. 10, to receive treatment for a head injury both outlets later claimed were sustained in a fight with drug kingpin Christopher "Dudus" Coke.A spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons, however, said this is not true in a Thursday, Oct. 15 statement to USA TODAY.
"While, for privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any individual in our custody, we can tell you that the story you are referring to is false
and did not happen," it said.
"Sean Combs is in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and is incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix," the spokesperson confirmed. "Beyond this, we have no additional information to provide."
In a statement to USA TODAY, Juda Engelmayer, a representative for the 56-year-old rapper, said, "We appreciate the BOP's clarification, which confirms our concerns about the accuracy of the initial reports.
"We have not independently verified the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident, and I don't want to speculate about what may or may not have happened," she continued. "At this point, we have no verified information indicating that Sean was attacked by Christopher Coke or anyone else, or that he sustained injuries."
When the reports first came out, Engelmayer told USA TODAY in a statement on Monday, Oct. 12, "We are aware of the reports concerning Sean Combs and are working to confirm the circumstances. Sean’s health and well-being are our immediate concern, and we appreciate everyone who has reached out.”
