The Songwriters Hall of Fame has drafted a lengthy list of nominees for its 2027 class, including Lady Gaga, Pink, Shakira, Sia, Boy George, Vince Gill, Jack White, Ne-Yo, Grandmaster Melle Mel and Blondie’s Debbie Harry and Chris Stein.
Some of the artists – Pink, Gill, Boy George and Harry/Stein – have previously been nominated.
Along with the marquee names, a slew of non-performing songwriters are also tapped for possible enshrinement. Among those getting a nod are George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam, the duo behind Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “How Will I Know,” as well as their own 1998 hit, “Waiting for a Star to Fall" – which Houston rejected – under the banner of Boy Meets Girl.

Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen – known professionally as Stargate (Beyoncé, Rihanna); and Black Eyed Peas’ leader will.i.am, nominated for his work with the group as well as writing for Usher and John Legend.
Who is eligible for the Songwriters Hall of Fame?

A songwriter with a notable catalog of songs qualifies for induction 20 years after the first commercial release of a song.
Last year’s class included Taylor Swift, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS, Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart.
Voting members have until midnight EST Dec. 14 to choose up to three nominees each from the songwriter category and performing-songwriter category. Inductees will be announced in early 2027.
