A gas station worker who spent months rebuilding life for their family after experiencing homelessness won $100,000 from a complimentary digital scratch-and-win game included with a savings membership purchase.
The winner, identified as Harmony, works 14-hour shifts at a gas station and revealed the prize during a break after scratching a complimentary Scratchee included in a $20 Fast Lane Rush Hour Access Pack, according to the brand. The prize matched the game's top award of $100,000.
Harmony said the win arrives during a pivotal chapter for the family. Eight months ago, Harmony and two children were living in a car parked at a Walmart parking lot. The family has since moved into a house and has been furnishing it gradually.
"This is a life-changing
moment for me and my kids," Harmony said. "All my older son wants is an electric dirt bike, and I've finally got him one."
Harmony said the winning result did not feel real at first and spent time looking over the number before sharing the news with the children. Scratchee representatives later contacted Harmony to confirm the prize, according to the announcement.
