In St. Thomas Aquinas' top-10 clash against Columbus on Sept. 4, running back Tyler Reid put on an absolute showing from start to finish en route to a 31-24 win over the Explorers.
Following a readers' poll, Reid, the Pitt commit, was voted the USA TODAY Sports Super 25 Playmaker of the Week
following the top-ranked Raiders' win — a game in which St. Thomas Aquinas survived a second-half rally from the Explorers.A three-star running back, Reid controlled the game from start to finish,totaling 324 yards on 13 carries and scored all four of the Raiders' touchdowns, including the game-winner.
Reid, the younger brother of former Pitt star running back Desmond Reid, scored the first two touchdowns for the Raiders, a 63-yard run followed by a receiving
touchdown, before adding another 80-yard touchdown to open up the second half.
The Raiders were quiet for the remainder of the half while Columbus eventually knotted it up 24-24 with just six minutes remaining. On the first play of the following drive, Reid put up another 80-yard run to take the lead and seal the deal for USA TODAY Sport's No.1-ranked team.
