On the heels of its renovation, Pittsburgh International Airport won a top airport award for the second time in a decade, making it the first U.S. airport to receive the honor twice.
The airport was named the 2027 Airport of the Year by Air Transport World, an online monthly publication serving the global airline and commercial air transport manufacturing communities. The award has gone to Pittsburgh International Airport twice — this year and in 2017, according to PIT's website. It's the only U.S. airport to win the award twice.

Pittsburgh International Airport first US airport to win Airport of the Year award twice
Air Transport World recently announced the winners of the 52nd annual ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards. Among them was Pittsburgh International Airport, which the publication named as Airport of the Year
for the second time.
Each year, the award goes to an airport or airport group with a strong performance over the past year in regards to its relationships with airlines, network growth, passenger experience, security, sustainability and innovation.
The award comes about a year after Pittsburgh International Airport's modernization was completed. The redesign, which wrapped in 2025, updated the airport to include features inspired by the city's architecture and landscape. It consolidated landside and airside operations into one connected facility, cut travelers' time from curb to gate and added new accessibility features, according to PIT.
