What is the story about?

The Kansas City Chiefs have reached their Week 5 bye with something every NFL team wants: an undefeated record.

At 4-0, Kansas City is the lone unbeaten team in the AFC after surviving a 30-27 thriller against the Las Vegas Raiders.

There were plenty of questions surrounding Patrick Mahomes entering the season as he returned from a reconstructed ACL, but the star quarterback quickly put those concerns to rest. Mahomes rushed for the Chiefs’ first touchdown of the season in Week 1 and hasn’t looked back, leading Kansas City to four consecutive victories.

One of the biggest catalysts has been running back Kenneth Walker III. The offseason addition has exploded onto the scene, leading the NFL with 537 rushing yards through four games while adding

six total touchdowns.

The timing of the bye could prove valuable, too. Tyquan Thornton suffered a significant ankle injury in Week 4, and Rashee Rice also left the game with a hamstring strain. Rice is expected to use the extra time to recover, while Thornton faces an extended absence.

With the Chiefs getting a chance to reset, what does the rest of Kansas City’s 2026 schedule look like?

The Chiefs get right back to it once they're back from their break. They face three playoff teams from last season in as many weeks, including a Week 7 primetime road matchup against the defending Super Bowl champions, but their next game will be against the reeling Chargers.
