"Fox & Friends" cohost Lawrence Jones is opening up about the health scare that has kept him off the air.
Jones revealed Thursday, Aug. 20, that he recently underwent another eye surgery after suffering a detached retina, months after undergoing a procedure for a similar issue.
"You may have noticed my recent absence," Jones wrote in an Aug. 20 post on X. "I've been open about my eye surgery due to a retinal tear."
The Fox News personality said he later learned the initial injury dated back much further than he realized.
"However, I later discovered that this was caused by a childhood sports injury," Jones wrote. "Regrettably, I've sustained another retina detachment, which is common after the initial tear."

Jones said he underwent surgery Wednesday and thanked those who have supported him throughout the health setback.
"I want to express my deepest gratitude to my colleagues, Fox management, and our audience for their unwavering support during this challenging time," he wrote, adding, "I'm optimistic that I'll be back soon!"

Jones did not provide a specific date for his return to "Fox & Friends."
The latest procedure comes months after Jones was temporarily sidelined from the Fox News morning show because of problems with his retina.
In January, Jones revealed he had undergone eye surgery after experiencing issues with his vision for much of his life. He later called into "Fox & Friends" and said doctors had discovered that his retina had been detached for an extended period of time.
Jones said at the time that the surgery went well but swelling delayed his return to television. He returned to "Fox & Friends" in early February.
Jones joined Fox News in 2018 and became a permanent cohost of "Fox & Friends" in 2023 alongside Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade. He previously hosted the Saturday program "Lawrence Jones Cross Country."
