More than 200 days into the war in Iran, gas prices in the United States continue to climb.
The price at the pump has been on a steady increase since February, with no obvious end in sight.
And Georgia is no exception. The average price of gas in the Peach State is $4.10, more than $1 higher than this time one year ago, according to AAA.
Now, as the fall season is upon us, here's a look at where gas is the most expensive — and cheapest — across Atlanta and the rest of the state.
Where is gas most expensive, cheapest in Atlanta metro?
According to the AAA fuel price tracker, the average price of regular unleaded gas across the Atlanta metro area is $4.09, up slightly from the price a week ago. Gas is more than $0.20 higher than one month ago, and considerably higher than this time one year ago when it
was just $2.90.
The price change in diesel is even more significant. The average price of diesel across Atlanta is now $6.39. One month ago the average price was $5.46, and the price one year ago was $3.56.
Within the metro, the most expensive gas can be found in Fulton County, according to AAA.
The average price of regular unleaded gas in Fulton is $4.12, slightly above the Georgia state average of $4.10.
DeKalb County ranks second-highest in price, with an average of $4.10. The rest of the Atlanta metro counties all fall on the higher end of the $3.96 to $4.06 range of AAA's tracker.
Cherokee, Cobb and Douglas Counties have an average price of $4.04. The average price in Forsyth and Gwinnett Counties is $4.05, and Clayton County averages to $4.06.
To find specific gas stations with the lowest prices, you'll have to head outside I-285. You can find a cheap gas station near you with GasBuddy.
The highest gas prices in the state overall are found in southern Georgia, along the border with Florida and in the state's southwestern corner, according to AAA tracking.
MTG hammers gas message on social media
Former ally turned top Trump critic, former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, has come after the administration over Georgia's fuel costs on social media.
On Sept. 20, Greene said it cost $5.99/gallon to fill up her boat on the Lake Lanier marina, totaling more than $233.
"As a little girl, I grew up going to my grandparents house on Lake Sinclair where I was born in Milledgeville, GA and at my parents house on Lake Lanier where I'm from and live again in Cumming, GA and we've had boats for decades," Greene wrote in a post on X. "I've paid for gas at marinas many many times for over 35 years, ever since I was a teenager in the late 80's and early 90s. $5.99 is ridiculous!!! Thanks a lot Trump. What happened to drill baby drill and gas under $2???"
Earlier in the month, Greene said the Peach state had the "highest jump in diesel in the country."
"People are increasingly angry and I'm hearing about it," she wrote in a post on X. "This is not what they voted for, exactly the opposite as a matter of fact."
President Trump, however, said the increased prices are a "very inexpensive price to pay" for the war in Iran at a recent midterm event in North Carolina on Wednesday.
"But that's going to come tumbling down," he said of the gas prices. "That's going to be like rocket ships in reverse."
