The Los Angeles Chargers have fallen to 0-3 to start the season after yet another collapse in a 24-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 27.
The Chargers raced out to a 10-point lead thanks to a fast start from the defense and looked to be on their way to a blowout win, but the offense stalled as the game went on and the Bills began to surge. Justin Herbert was responsible for one of the most, if not the most, crucial mistakes of the day, and Tom Brady let him know it in the broadcast booth.
The Chargers had just forced their fifth takeaway of the afternoon on a Josh Allen fumble to set Herbert and Co. up at the Buffalo 34-yard line. At the start of the fourth quarter and a 13-10 lead, it was the perfect opportunity for the Chargers to take control.
Two plays later, however, Herbert was picked off at the goal line by CJ Gardner-Johnson on a deep pass over the middle intended for a diving Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
Brady, in a shocked tone, was quick to point out where Herbert went wrong on that play.
"There's a safety in the middle of the field," Brady said. "... Poor awareness. Poor decision. Throws him a meatball sub."

Gardner-Johnson ran the ball back to the 42, setting the Bills up with excellent field position that they capitalized on with a 13-play, 58-yard drive capped off by a Josh Allen QB sneak for the go-ahead touchdown. Herbert later led LA down the field for a garbage time field goal after the score was already out of reach.
