Indiana football's path to successfully defending its national championship continues into another week.

It marks the final non-conference game in the 2026 regular season for coach Curt Cignetti's team, which begins Big Ten play next week with a game against Northwestern.
Under new quarterback Josh Hoover, a TCU transfer, Indiana has scored a combined 107 points in its first two games, wins against North Texas and Howard that were each decided by more than 35 points. The victories extended the Hoosiers'
win streak, which dates back to the start of last season, to 18 games. In the two wins, Indiana gave up just 16 total points, an eight-points-per-game average that puts it in a tie for 11th among 138 FBS teams.
It will take on a Western Kentucky team that's been a perennial bowl participant for the better part of the past 15 years, but is off to a 0-2 start, including a 70-20 thumping at the hands of No. 2 Georgia last week. The Hilltoppers have struggled defensively, giving up 59.5 points per game. That figure ranks last among FBS teams.
It will be the sixth all-time meeting between the programs. The Hoosiers won the first five, including a 33-30 overtime victory in 2022.
