Cincinnati football has provided a positive update to receiver JV Gibson, who suffered a scary injury in the Bearcats' 31-24 loss to Houston on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Gibson was carted off the field after taking a hard hit from Houston defensive back Jordan Allen at roughly the seven-minute mark in the fourth quarter. Allen was whistled for targeting – and later ejected upon review – after he launched upward and hit Gibson on his helmet, knocking the Bearcats receiver off his feet with the ball having already passed by him.
Speaking after the game, Cincinnati coach Scott Satterfield said he didn't have an immediate update for Gibson but that he was
in a "good place," health-wise, as he left the field.
"Our personnel did an amazing job to get out there very quickly, and was right on top of JV, and ultimately got him in a good place there. He was moving all four extremities on command. You know, took him to the hospital for precautionary reasons, get him CT scans and all those types of things. I don't have an update but hopefully everything checks out great."
Later on, Cincinnati football issued another positive update, announcing he had been discharged from the hospital and was traveling home with the team from Houston:
Wide receiver JV Gibson was discharged from Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center following evaluation and is traveling back to Cincinnati with the team tonight.

It's uncertain whether Gibson will be cleared to play again anytime soon following his injury scare vs. the Cougars. Cincinnati next plays at Iowa State on Nov. 14.
