Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze and running back D'Andre Swift suffered injuries during their team's Wednesday, Sept. 3, practice, according to multiple reports.
Odunze's injury occurred early in the session. He came up hobbling during the "install" session, according to The Chicago Tribune's Sean Hammond, and was tended to by a trainer.
Odunze "wasn't overly concerned" about the injury, according to Hammond. Nonetheless, he left practice and did not return because of the malady.
Meanwhile, Swift was "holding his midsection or core area" after suffering an injury late in practice, per Hammond. The 27-year-old appeared to be in "significant discomfort" before leaving the field and retreating to a nearby shed for medical treatment, according
to The Athletic's Dan Wiederer.

The Bears did not immediately provide an update on the statuses of Odunze and Swift. Chicago coach Ben Johnson isn't expected to speak to the media until next week, and the team will not release an official injury report until Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The Bears have just five receivers on the 53-man roster, so they would likely call one up from the practice squad if Odunze misses time. That would create an opportunity for Kaden Davis, Scotty Miller or JP Richardson to see some playing time.
Who is D'Andre Swift's backup?
If Swift has to miss time, the Bears will rely on Kyle Monangai to serve as their lead back. The Rutgers product generated 783 yards and five touchdowns on 169 carries as a rookie.
Monangai is dealing with a hyperextended right knee, so his status will need monitoring ahead of the regular season.

Johnson could be elevated into a prominent role if both Swift and Monangai miss time. Johnson has totaled 832 yards and eight touchdowns on 188 career touches (138 rushes, 50 receptions) across his three NFL seasons to date.
Chicago also has Salvon Ahmed and Zavier Scott on the practice squad, and at least one would likely be elevated to provide extra depth in the running back room if Swift's injury causes him to miss regular-season action.
