Popular children's toy brand Melissa & Doug recalled tens of thousands of activity boards for a potential choking hazard.
Melissa & Doug issued a recall for about 84,000 Lights & Sounds Fire Truck Activity Boards this week because a fire hose port on the board may come loose, detach and pose a choking hazard, according to a U.S. Consumer Protection Safety Commission (CPSC) recall report.
As of Sept. 17, Melissa & Doug received 26 reports of the small port coming loose and one report of a minor cut, according to the CPSC report.

What Melissa & Doug toys are recalled?
The recall affects Melissa & Doug Lights and Sound Fire Truck Activity Boards with the folliwing
date codes:
- OET 25100
- OET 25150
- OET 26064
The toy is made of red plastic and has four black wheels, a white plastic rotating ladder and black plastic connector that looks like a fire hose, according to the CPSC report. "Melissa & Doug" and two date of manufacture wheels are embossed on the battery compartment box on the bottom of the toy.
Affected toys have one arrow pointing to the number 25 and the second arrow pointing to the number 4 or 5 on the date wheel or they will have one arrow pointing to the number 26 and the second arrow pointing to the number 3, according to the CPSC report.
Where were the recalled toys sold?
The recalled activity boards were sold at Target stores and on the Target website between July 2025 and August 2026 for $30, according to the CPSC report.
What to do if you own the recalled Melissa & Doug toys
Stop using the toy and register for a recall on the Melissa & Doug website for a full refund or $40 store credit to the Melissa & Doug website.
Consumers will be asked to remove the toy's batteries, cut the black hose and write in permanent market, "RECALL," on the front of the product with a unique code provided during the online registration process, according to the CPSC report. Consumers should then upload a photo of the toy. Once registration is confirmed, consumers should dispose of the toy in ordinary household trash.
