Among airports with low wait times, Pittsburgh's recently redesigned airport ranked near the top of the list.

After a modernization program at Pittsburgh International Airport, the airport includes design elements that draw inspiration from the region's landscape, architecture and culture.

Does Pittsburgh airport redesign affect wait times?

Not exactly. But the redesign, completed in 2025, consolidated landside and airside operations into a single connected facility. This cuts domestic passengers' time to get from the curb to their gate by about 50%, while it cuts that time by about 67% for international travelers, according to PIT.
