From stage to screen, Al Pacino is hailed as one of the greatest actors of all time, and next year, his fellow thespians are cementing his place in history.
Pacino has been tapped to receive the SAG-AFTRA life achievement award for his career and humanitarian accomplishments. The union will honor him at the 33rd Actor Awards, which streams live Feb. 28 on Netflix (8 p.m. ET/5 PT) from Hollywood's Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall.
Pacino, known for his iconic roles in "The Godfather" films, "Scarface," "Scent of a Woman" and "Heat," is the 62nd recipient of the award. Harrison Ford was feted with the career-celebrating prize earlier this year, while other recent honorees include Barbra Streisand, Jane Fonda, Sally Field and Robert De Niro.

"I wondered
and wandered most of my life but have always felt at home with a script and my fellow actors," Pacino said in a statement.
"It’s the work and the actors along the way that have been among the greatest joys of my life. It’s an honor to be recognized by SAG-AFTRA in celebrating the journey."
SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin remarked that he's "spent my life in awe and appreciation of the force of nature that is Al Pacino. When you watch him perform, you are witnessing a student and a master. Al Pacino is an artist of extraordinary courage, intensity and heart whose work has always set an exceptional standard of skill and talent. All of that and he’s just plain fun to watch."
Pacino already has the AFI life achievement award, the Golden Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Venice Film Festival Career Golden Lion on his shelf, in addition to an Oscar, two Tonys, two Emmys and two Actor Awards.
