A "Bensler" reunion could be on the horizon.
Weeks ahead of the highly anticipated Oct. 8 premiere of Season 28 of "Law & Order: SVU," Mariska Hargitay, who plays Capt. Olivia Benson, seemingly confirmed the reunion with former co-star Christopher Meloni, who played the angry but memorable Elliot Stabler for 17 seasons, in two separate Instagram posts on Sept. 22.
"WHO DAT" Hargitay captioned the first photo, which is a selfie of her pointing the camera toward Meloni with his back to her. Shortly after, she shared another selfie of the pair donning big smiles as they both looked into the camera.
While Hargitay hasn't outright confirmed Meloni will return as Stabler, her caption does read "happy 600," and "Law & Order: SVU" showrunner Michele Fazekas
told Give Me My Remote back in May that "we would all love to grab him whenever he can."
"But I also don’t want to just do it as a gag. I want to do it as, like, meaningful," Fazekas added.
"Law & Order: SVU" is also set to make history this season, as the NBC crime procedural's 600th episode airs this November.
According to People, the milestone will cement "SVU" as the longest-running primetime live-action series in American television, at least for now.
While Benson (Hargitay) and her Sgt. Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice-T) may have toyed with retiring over the course of Season 27, the pair ultimately changed their tune by the season finale.
Here's everything you need to know ahead of the "Law & Order: SVU" Season 28 premiere, including how to tune in.
