The saga of Brandon Aiyuk might yet have another chapter.
The disgruntled wide receiver, who is on the San Francisco 49ers' left squad list, has reportedly hired Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent with the goal of "getting him back to work and playing again in the NFL," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Aiyuk has not played since tearing his ACL, MCL and meniscus in Week 7 of the 2024 season and had been without representation after firing Ryan Williams in June.
There are a few hoops Aiyuk needs to jump through before he can suit up again, namely finding a team willing to take him.
Brandon Aiyuk 49ers status
The 28-year-old has been embroiled in a bitter standoff with the Niners and spent most of the offseason disparaging his team on social media, calling them "stupid and dumb"
after they voided the guarantees in his contract in July 2025 for skipping his required rehab sessions and check-ins with the team.
"Take me off yo bum-(expletive) team," he wrote in a later social media post. "Tf is the hold up?"
Aiyuk has been on the 49ers' reserve/left team list since last December, after he stopped showing up at the team facility, which means he doesn't currently count toward the 49ers' 90-man roster or salary cap. He'll need to apply for reinstatement to change his status.
Rosenhaus is one of the most high-profile agents in the NFL and currently represents several players, notably Jalen Carter, Chris Olave and DJ Moore through Rosenhaus Sports.
General manager John Lynch told reporters in January that they were moving on from Aiyuk, so if he does attempt a return to the NFL, it will likely have to be elsewhere.
