Jimmy Kimmel isn't buying President Donald Trump's explanation for Republicans' midterms wipeout.
The comedian spoke further about the results of the midterm elections, which saw Democrats gain control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, on his Nov. 4 show, arguing Trump is "blaming everyone other than" himself for what went wrong.
The president had asked Republican voters to "pretend" he was on the ballot in the midterms, but he maintained in a Nov. 3 post on Truth Social that the GOP ultimately suffered losses because he "wasn't on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!"
"Oh, shut up," Kimmel fired back at Trump on Nov. 4. "Just shut up. Please. Give us a break for one day and shut that ridiculous mouth. You
are such a spoiled child. Did you ever learn anything about manners or sportsmanship, or simple common decency? Nothing is ever your fault."

In a statement shared with USA TODAY, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said, "Jimmy Kimmel is a no-talent loser who has beclowned himself with tanking ratings and by spewing disgusting lies to his dwindling audience. He is so devoid of actual talent that nobody with any commonsense would ever watch him unless it was to laugh at him."
Votes are still being counted in some states, but as of Nov. 5, Democrats had flipped seven seats in the Senate and 32 seats in the House, in what analysts described as a stunning rebuke of Trump.
Kimmel rejected Trump's argument that he wasn't on the ballot in the midterms. "You were on the ballot. You're like dog hair: You're on everything," he quipped, later adding, "He cannot admit that anything is his fault. I wish his parents were alive today so we could put them in jail for what they did to him and to us."
The comedian expressed gratitude to voters who backed Trump in previous presidential elections, but supported Democrats in 2026. "To all those Republicans who voted for him the first time, and then the second time and third time, that decided yesterday I've had enough, thank you," he said. "It's hard to admit you made a mistake. Good for you for doing that."
Trump, Kimmel went on to argue, "has no allegiance to anyone or anything" and should leave office before the end of his second term. "The verdict is in, and there's only one thing left for Nappy Gilmore to do: Resign. Quit already," he said. "Just quit. Nobody wants you. Even you don't want to be president anymore."

Kimmel previously reacted to the results of the midterms on his Nov. 3 show. That episode was taped earlier in the day, but it was clear by that point that it would be a good night for Democrats. "The blue wave made landfall, and now, the red wedding begins," Kimmel previously said.
But Kimmel's fellow late-night comics Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers didn't broadcast new episodes on the night of the midterms, so they shared their first reactions to the results on Nov. 4.
On "The Tonight Show," Fallon joked it "was a total blue wave caused by an orange president," and after Democrats' wins, "There's going to be so many Republicans leaving the Capitol, it'll look like a reverse Jan. 6."
Meyers, meanwhile, described the election results as the "big, clear-cut, unequivocal Trump repudiation Democrats have been desperately chasing for 10 years" and mocked Trump's argument that he was not on the ballot.
"You were on the … ballot, my man," Meyers shot back. "Your name might not have been there, but it's not like everyone forgot who was president."
