Megan Moroney is adding 'fragrance founder' to her growing list of country music credentials.
The self-proclaimed emo cowgirl just launched her debut perfume, Calliope, at Walmart today, Saturday, Aug. 15, giving fans a new way to channel the country star's signature blend of heartbreak, femininity and Southern charm as she gets ready to wrap up the North American leg of "The Cloud 9 Tour."
The country music singer says she spent the last year and a half developing the scent. Inspired by the Greek muse of epic poetry, whose name means "beautiful-voiced," Calliope is designed to capture Moroney's distinctive voice, emotional authenticity and knack for turning personal experiences into unforgettable songs.
The fragrance is just as personal as its
name. Moroney's heart-shaped bottle was inspired by kintsugi, the centuries-old Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold or silver and embracing its cracks rather than hiding them. For Moroney, the concept reflects how the broken pieces of her own experiences have shaped her music and helped her and her fans heal.
"On the back of the bottle, I added the handwritten lyrics 'You Shine' because I truly believe the world can be hard on beautiful things. The most beautiful things come from broken pieces, and I hope this fragrance serves as a reminder that your light shines even brighter because of everything you've been through," Moroney said in a release.
As for the scent, Calliope combines Peach Blossom, Jasmine, Pink Peony and Warm Mineral Musk for a luminous, addictive finish.
