New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart (knee) is expected to have an MRI on Tuesday, Sept. 22, once the team returns to its facilities after leaving the Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams due to a knee injury.
Dart is believed to have suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament after initial exams. Initial X-rays were negative.
On the telecast, it was reported that ESPN's Jordan Raanan said Dart stayed on the sideline the entire game, and after emerging from the exams, he was lobbying to get back into the game.
Giants quarterback Jameis Winston completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards, no touchdowns and one interception, while he was sacked in the 28-6 loss after taking over for Dart in the first quarter.

Why it Matters: The lobbying to get back into the game is a good sign that he wasn't seriously injury, but the Giants sound like they were taking the most cautious route. Once the team gets a definitive report from the MRI, a lot more information will be available. What is clear, though, is that the Giants were a shell of themselves with Winston, after looking dominant in Week 1 behind Dart.
