It's that time of year again.
New York Fashion Week is back, signaling the turn from the end of summer to the start of fall as stars and fashion elite descend upon Manhattan for seven days of fashion-filled events.
Unlike the colder, quieter February calendar, September is busy and alive, with a unique mélange of fashion fans and a slew of A-list stars between the final days of the US Open and the beginning of NYFW. In fact, when it comes to September fashion week, expect to see celebrities at every turn.
Formal festivities for NYFW's spring/summer 2027 shows don't officially begin until Thursday, Sept. 10, but early events such as Harlem's Fashion Row Fashion Show & Style Awards and off-calendar shows from Ralph Lauren and Coach get a jump start
on the week.
And this season is sure to be a party with several celebratory anniversary shows (and late-night soirées), some big designer comebacks, and a bevy of celebrity names walking the runways and gracing the front rows. Famous faces like Anne Hathaway, Chloë Sevigny, Gigi Hadid, Kate Mara and even Oprah Winfrey have been known to make NYFW appearances. And then, there's always the occasional Beyoncé or Rihanna surprise.

What is NYFW?
Taking place each year in February and September, and a kickoff to the larger fashion month across the globe, New York Fashion Week is a dedicated week of runway shows and fashion presentations where the biggest New York and American-based designers and brands showcase their latest collections.
In the shows' front row seats, you'll find a blend of retailer buyers, designers, fashion editors, celebrities, clients and an increasing number of influencers.
Where is NYFW?
NYFW events are held at various locations around New York's five boroughs. This season, shows will take place at iconic Manhattan venues like The Plaza and The Rainbow Room, as well as outside of the city at landmark New York locations like Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens and Storm King Art Center.
When is NYC's fashion week?
The first official day of New York Fashion Week spring/summer 2027 is Thursday, Sept. 10, opening with Diane von Furstenberg's first big runway show in more than a decade.
However, some designers like Ralph Lauren and Coach have off-calendar shows starting the week off early on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Fashion week events come to an end on Tuesday, Sept. 15, closing with Thom Browne.

What to look forward to this season
This NYFW will be a season of anniversary shows for several New York brands like Rachel Comey and Khaite, who are celebrating 25 and 10 years, respectively. Elsewhere, Carolina Herrera will celebrate 45 years with a Wes Gordon show that is sure to wow, while Coach will honor a legendary 85 years with a runway show and special anniversary fête.
In addition to anniversaries, this season will also see grand returns from Monse, Sabyasachi, Thom Browne and Diane von Furstenberg, who will debut a new chapter of the beloved brand helmed by creative director Henry Zankov.
NYFW shows have also gone beyond the runway in recent years, with more designers showcasing their collections at atypical venues. This season, designers are making grand-scale outdoor venues their runways, with shows taking place at locations such as the Manhattan Heliport and even Storm King Art Center in Hudson Valley.
Can anyone go to NYFW?
Most of the major shows during New York Fashion Week (and other cities) are invite-only. However, certain smaller shows and events are open to the public.
