The baseball world hopes that the San Francisco Giants' dynamic broadcasting duo Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper will have to the chance to call their final game at Oracle Park together with a handful of home games left in the schedule.
The two were teammates with the club and then went on to call 37 seasons of Giants baseball together. The duo's run comes to its last inning all after the 2026 season following Krukow's announcement of retirement. Kuiper won't be on the call this due to receiving treatment for throat cancer, he said in a Sept. 20 statement to the team.
The hope is that there they both will call the final series of the season against the Los Angeles Dodgers, a fitting ending and career-finale for Krukow. And a welcome back for Kuiper.
Both will one day earn Hall of Fame consideration, with fans and media members, alike, agreeing that the two should be considered as a pair for induction to Cooperstown through their longevity, chemistry and illustrating of Giants baseball in a humorously animated fashion.
They will both be remembered for many moments and calls throughout their more than three-decade tenure. From side jokes to memorable calls, here are some of the best moments throughout the years from Kruk and Kuip:
"It... is... outta... here"
Everyone loves a good home run call and Duane Kuiper's call is one of the best in all of baseball. It's his illustration, build-up and excitement to seeing one of the most celebrated play in baseball. That phrase combined with color commentating of the action is top tier.
"Panda's on the move"
On Sept. 15, 2011, Pablo "Panda" Sandoval hit for the cycle – a single, double, triple and home run in one game – and Kuiper's call was perfect as Sandoval rounded the bases in his fourth at-bat diving for a triple.
Sandoval, a 5-foot-10, 268-pound infielder, seemingly shook the diamond when he ran full speed around the bases. Kuiper's call captured that effortlessly. Have a listen.
Barry Bonds' No. 756 solidifies Kuip's iconic phrase
There's nothing more iconic than being on the call for a moment in baseball history. Kuip nailed it when Barry Bonds broke Hank Aaron's home run record in 2007.
Kruk-isms
There have been a lot of witty, quirky and goofy sayings, phrases or moments over the years between Krukow and Kuiper. The phrases that come about have become affectionately known as Kruk-isms. For those unfamiliar with the terminology, The Athletic created a glossary for you. One of the beloved ones are "in the squaaaat" but what's more beloved is the reason Kruk says it.
The story of Kuiper's first and only home run
It's a short story, but worth tuning into as Kuip and Kruk offer some laughs along the way as Kuiper is interviewed, along with family members and former teammates about his first and only home run when played in Cleveland.
Kuip call defines Giants' 2026 season
This Duane Kuiper call pretty much summed up the 2026 season. The Giants had a 3-2 lead with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks on May 19. Ketel Marte blasted a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to seal the deal, giving the D'backs a 5-3 win. Kuiper and Krukow sat in silence before Kuip on the call said, "un-believable."
Angel Pagan hits a walk-off, inside-the-park home run
Angel Pagan hit a hanging breaking ball, getting "both cheeks" into it to give San Francisco just enough to get by the Colorado Rockies on May 25, 2013. "Pagan is being waived in. It is not in time. And that ... is ... the ... ball ... game," Kuiper called.
Kruk and Kuip Tarzan, yawn call
One of the funnier times happen to be back when the duo burst out in a Tarzan screech as the cameraman panned to a couple yawning. Krukow explained that then games were 3 ½ hours long and they needed to find ways of entertainment in between pitches and innings.
2010 World Series call
It wouldn't be a list of greatest moments without one of their World Series calls from 2010, 2012 or 2014. But there's nothing sweeter than the first one. Kuiper said, "throws ... swing and a miss. And that's it. The Giants are World champions."
