A crane collapsed near downtown Miami on Monday, Sept. 14, sending at least four people to the hospital.
The City of Miami Fire Rescue confirmed to USA TODAY that a drilling rig fell onto three vehicles at an intersection one block from the city's Atlantic coast. Emergency crews worked to free two trapped victims from a crushed vehicle and extinguished a fire in the area.
At least four people were hurt, fire authorities confirmed to USA TODAY, and they were transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Video from the scene circulating online shows a four-door SUV engulfed in flamesnext to what appears to be a dark colored vehicle crushed by part of the crane.
What caused the crane collapse in Miami?
Officials did not immediately confirm the cause of the collapse.
Bystanders were asked to avoid the area as multiple streets have been shut down around the scene.
