Kirby Smart calls Trinidad Chambliss “probably the best quarterback in the country.”
Pete Golding says Gunner Stockton is an “elite game manager.”
Now the two quarterbacks meet again with major SEC and playoff stakes.
No. 12 Ole Miss hosts No. 2 Georgia after the teams split two dramatic meetings last season, including the Rebels’ Sugar Bowl victory. Golding says Stockton rarely beats himself, while Chambliss has already shown he can beat the Bulldogs. Another heavyweight showdown awaits in Oxford.
Georgia hasn’t forgotten Ole Miss ending its CFP run last year. Now the Bulldogs return for a rematch
with Chambliss, and a revamped pass rush determined to change the ending. Georgia has recorded 26 sacks, six more than it had all of last season. For two-loss Ole Miss, the stakes are even higher: Every game is now a playoff game.
So who wins on Saturday? Here's what you need to know for one of Week 10's marquee games, including predictions from USA TODAY Sports reporters and beat writers from the Athens Banner-Herald and Clarion Ledger, part of the USA TODAY Network.
Georgia vs Ole Miss football predictions: Experts pick who wins
USA TODAY Sports staff picks:
- John Brice: Georgia
- Matt Hayes: Georgia
- Jordan Mendoza: Georgia
- Paul Myerberg: Georgia
- Erick Smith: Georgia
- Eddie Timanus: Georgia
- Blake Toppmeyer: Georgia
- Austin Curtright: Georgia 30, Ole Miss 21
- John Leuzzi: Georgia 28, Ole Miss 24
- Jordan Mendoza: Georgia 38, Ole Miss 27
- Adam Bittner: Georgia 31, Ole Miss 21
- Georgia 34, Ole Miss 23: The Bulldogs' loss to Auburn may well end up being the most bizarre result of the season. This is a team with an efficient offense and a characteristically nasty defense that looks like maybe the best all-around squad in the country. Not even Trinidad Chambliss' heroics will be enough to overcome that. — Craig Meyer, USA TODAY
- Georgia 31, Ole Miss 27: The matchup of Ole Miss's SEC top scoring offense in league games against Georgia's No. 1 scoring defense should be get out your popcorn stuff. Even with Trinidad Chambliss, I trust Georgia to win that battle and get enough plays from Gunner Stockton and the running game to escape Oxford with the victory. — Marc Weiszer, Athens Banner-Herald

Will Kewan Lacy play vs Georgia?
Ole Miss star RB Kewan Lacy has been ruled out for Saturday's game vs. Georgia. Lacy missed the Oct. 31 game against Auburn with a left shoulder injury. Rebels coach Pete Golding said Lacy is still recovering from it and doing rehab work.
"It's a work in progress," Golding said Monday. "We're not expecting to have him this week. This isn't something that's going to happen overnight. He's still working hard at it. Hopefully we'll know sooner than later, but not expecting him this week."
Lacy's left shoulder was dislocated on Oct. 24 at Texas. It was banged up entering that game, and it's the same shoulder he had surgery on in the past offseason.
