Taco Bellis teaming up with Duolingo and its iconic green owl mascot.
The fast-food chain and language-learning app are teaming up to take Taco Bell's annual National Taco Day celebration global, calling this year's Oct. 6 event "Global Taco Day."
Taco Bell will introduce the spicy Duo Habanero Sauce, a limited-edition sauce inspired by Duolingo's mascot, Duo.
Here's what to know about the new sauce and "Global Taco Day".
Where can you get the new sauce?
The sauce will be available at participating Taco Bell restaurants in the U.S., Canada, Australia, China, India, Spain and the United Kingdom while supplies last. In the U.S., customers can get one free packet with the purchase of a Doritos Locos Taco. Additional packets will be available for 20 cents each.
How will the new sauce taste?
Taco Bell describes the
new sauce as bright and tangy, with fruity notes and habanero heat that builds with each bite.
The new sauce comes with a language lesson
The collaboration also puts a language-learning twist on Taco Bell's familiar sauce packets. The limited-edition packets will feature taco-themed sayings in nine languages: English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese, German, Korean, Mandarin and Japanese.
The sauce was created exclusively for the Taco Bell and Duolingo collaboration. Its packaging features Duo and incorporates language lessons into Taco Bell's traditional "sauce wisdoms."
The companies say the collaboration is built around the word "taco," which they say remains largely recognizable across more than 30 languages.

How can Taco Bell Rewards members get free Duolingo?
Taco Bell Rewards members can also receive one free month of Super Duolingo as part of the Global Taco Day promotion.
The offer is available through Oct. 6 and is limited to Rewards members who are not current Duolingo subscribers. Codes must be redeemed by Nov. 15 and remain active for 30 days after activation.
Taco Bell and Duolingo are also giving away 1,000 limited-edition Duo plushies. The plush features Duo wearing a Taco Bell uniform and a miniature headset.
In the U.S., Taco Bell Rewards members can visit the company's Tuesday Drops page at 2 p.m. PT Oct. 6 for a chance to claim one, while supplies last. Additional giveaways are planned in several international markets.
Where is Taco Bell celebrating 'Global Taco Day'?
Taco Bell and Duolingo will mark the occasion with events in several cities.
In New York City, Duo and his friends will be at Taco Bell's Midtown Cantina from 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET Oct. 6. The event will include tacos, Duo Habanero Sauce, language lessons and giveaways.
Additional events are planned in Mumbai, India; Toronto, Canada; and Shanghai, China.
Taco Bell has expanded its National Taco Day promotions in recent years, launching the Taco Lover's Pass in 2022, helping open up "Taco Tuesday" to restaurants nationwide in 2023 and moving National Taco Day to the first Tuesday in October in 2024.
