Starbucks and sparkling water brand Bubly are getting spooky.
On Oct. 8, the beverage brands announced the launch of their Bubly x ready-to-drink Starbucks Frappuccino Basic Witch Kit, a limited-edition Halloween "survival kit" that pokes fun at the "basic fall girl" aesthetic. The kit features attire, accessories, decor and, of course, drinks, including an all-new Bubly flavor.
Gaining prominence in the early 2010s on Tumblr and Pinterest, the "basic fall girl" aesthetic, also known as the "Christian Girl Autumn" aesthetic, encompasses oversized sweaters, knee-high riding boots, plaid scarves and pumpkin spice lattes.
The Basic Witch Kit rolls out a few weeks before Starbucks' Halloween menu items drop, including a Black Cat Frappuccino (a chocolate
cake-flavored Frappuccino with whipped cream and cat ear-shaped chocolate) and Venti Black Night Cookie (a black cocoa cookie with caramel fudge pieces and caramelized white chocolate chunks). The spooky treats are available at participating Starbucks starting Oct. 22.
Ahead of the treats, Starbucks also released a limited line of Halloween-themed merchandise, including a black cat mug, cauldron-shaped mug and black cat Bearista plush bag charm.
