President Donald Trump is making yet another stop in Georgia this year as the first week of early voting in the midterm elections comes to a close.
The visit will mark the third time Trump has stopped in the Peach State this year, following a February stop in Rome and a July stop in Marietta.
Where is Trump visiting?
President Trump will hold a "midterm rally" in Dalton, Georgia at the Dalton Municipal Airport on Friday, Oct. 16.
Doors will open for rally guests at 11:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 1:30 p.m. Trump is expected to speak at 3 p.m.
Those wishing to attend the rally can request tickets here.
Where is Dalton, Georgia?
Dalton is a city in Whitfield County on Georgia's northern border just south of Tennessee.
The city has a population of about 35,000 and has a majority Hispanic population,
according to the U.S. Census.
Dalton is known for its textile industry, often referring to itself as the "Carpet Center of the World," and employs a large percentage of minority workers.
Whitfield County, however, is part of the Deep Red stronghold in Georgia, voting for Trump-backed Clay Fuller to replace former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene in a special election in April by 57%.
Trump approval ratings continue to drop
President Trump is making stops across the country to rally support going into the midterm elections.
This week he will also make stops in Ohio and Alaska.
The visits come as Republicans across the country are facing the choice between standing with the president when he's not on the ballot, or distancing themselves as Trump's approval ratings continue to decline.
The same is true in Georgia. Rep. Mike Collins who is running for the U.S. Senate seat against incumbent Democrat Jon Ossoff has chosen to stick with Trump, supporting the war in Iran and the president's tariff policies. He has also continued to claim the 2020 election in Georgia was stolen, and supporting investigations from the Department of Justice in the state.
Rick Jackson, the Republican running for governor, has switched to a different path. The candidate previously said he would be "Trump's favorite governor" and "like Trump with a Southern tone." But in recent weeks, he has pulled mentions of Trump from his campaign website, and during a recent debate distanced himself from the president by instead complimenting current Governor Brian Kemp.
Trump's approval in Georgia has hit a record low for his second term, with 50% disapproval, according to a new Civiqs' poll.
