Hoka continues to be a leader in the running space as runners across the globe trust the brand's latest and greatest technology to craft award-winning shoes.
While known for their daily mileage running shoes, Hoka has dipped into lifestyle-oriented shoes as well, with their latest release of the Clifton UTL being the next step for those who want a casual, everyday shoe.
It's the latest addition to Hoka's Clifton line, which is known for its comfortable cushioning and smooth ride. The Clifton UTL was built as a lifestyle shoe and features a durable and protective upper to ensure protection from the elements.

What I like about the Hoka Clifton UTL shoes
The Hoka Clifton UTL was the first Hoka shoe I've run in, and knowing the brand's high praise, had high expectations.
Overall, the shoe is a very strong option for walkers and occasional runners. The first thing that stuck out was the cushioning. For those that suffer from overpronation (foot rolls inward), this shoe ensures your foot stays upright without overcompensating.
As someone who's flat-footed, with both walking and running, I felt very stable with each movement without feeling like the cushioning was interfering with my movement or that it could potentially make it uncomfortable.
Is the Hoka Clifton UTL a good running shoe?
To be clear, the shoe is categorized as a lifestyle shoe, not specifically an everyday running shoe. However, after testing the shoe on sidewalks, walking trails and a treadmill by both running and walking, I'd confidently say the Clifton UTL is a great neutral shoe for those who like to occasionally go for a jog.
If you're one that logs miles daily and are training for races, I wouldn't recommend the shoe because it may be too cushiony or stiff for longer periods of time. Nonetheless, they're a strong shoe for walking, running errands and logging a mile or two here and there.
