In the six months since the U.S. went to war with Iran, at least 18 U.S. military personnel have been killed, according to the Pentagon's latest data.
The number of U.S. service members who died in relation to the war − including those killed by hostile action, accident or unknown causes − total 20, according to military announcements. The Pentagon also lists more than 400 troops as wounded in action during Operation Epic Fury.
Trump launched attacks on Iran in February, saying the country was developing nuclear weapons.
"They’re indeed great heroes," Trump said of the deceased soldiers earlier this year.
