Multiple weather alerts have been issued for New York City as officials brace for plenty of rain in the coming days.
A flash flood warning, alongside a flood watch, were both issued for the region by the National Weather Service. A separate weather alert was made by the city's emergency management agency.

Flash flood warning, flood watch issued for NYC
As the city prepares to extra rainfall this week, a flash flood warning was issued for all five boroughs until Monday until 10:45 a.m.
A flood watch is issued through Monday evening, too, the NWS says.
Apart from the NWS, the NYCEM also issued a weather alert, reporting that "the greatest risk for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms" were expected between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday. The Flash Flood Emergency Plan for the city is also activated.
What's the difference between a flash flood warning and watch?
The NWS has two separate alerts for flooding risks: a flash flood warning, and a watch. But what's actually the difference?
According to the agency, a flood watch is issued when conditions are "favorable," or possible for a flood to occur.
A flash flood warning, on the other hand, is made when a flash flood is imminent or already happening.
Weather forecast for NYC
According to AccuWeather, the forecast for NYC is as follows as of Monday morning:
- Monday, August 3: rain and thunderstorms; high of 81 degrees, low of 67 degrees
- Tuesday, August 4: partly sunny; high of 85 degrees, low of 70 degrees
- Wednesday, August 5: cloudy with a possible thunderstorm; high of 83 degrees, low of 72 degrees
- Thursday, August 6: cloudy with a possible thunderstorm; high of 88 degrees, low of 76 degrees
- Friday, August 7: warm with afternoon rain and thunderstorm; high of 89 degrees, low of 74 degrees
What to do if it rains in NYC
During periods of intense rainfall, the city warns residents who live in basement apartments to prepare to move to higher ground. Flooded subway stations should also be avoided, and New Yorkers should never drive or walk through flooded streets.
