The world's biggest marathon is back, with nearly 60,000 runners expected to compete in the New York City Marathon this year.
The grueling 26.2-mile trek through each of the city's five boroughs tests not only skill but mental fortitude, as the TCS New York Marathon celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first five-borough race.
This year, the field is deep, with all four professional winners from last year's race back to defend their titles, and records are likely to be shattered.
More than 2 million spectators are expected to line the streets of New York to cheer and catch a glimpse at truly one of the world's premier sporting events.
