Officials are investigating a shooting at a home in North Carolina that has led to multiple fatalities, the Caswell County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
Authorities received a call for service around 8 a.m. on Aug. 5 in Prospect Hill, North Carolina, the sheriff's office said. When deputies arrived, they found multiple people with gunshot wounds. One person was taken to Duke University Hospital. The sheriff's office said there were "multiple other fatalities," but did not elaborate.
The sheriff's office said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Local authorities requested the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, which has arrived at the scene and has begun
processing evidence and conducting interviews.
The sheriff's office said it is working to identify next of kin.
