Foodies are flocking to a popular fast food chain's headquarters in the Midwest for limited-edition menu items.
In addition to being home of Hamburger University, McDonald's corporate headquarters in Chicago's West Loop offers a rotating selection of international menu items not available at other domestic McDonald's. The Global Menu, as of Sept. 24, features nine items from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Japan, Chile, Switzerland and Spain.
These menu items, which debuted in August, include several entrees, including a Bacon Hot Honey McCrispy, Onion Rings and a variety of sweet treats like McPops, bite-sized, soft and squishy doughnuts with different filings.

what to know about McDonald's Global Menu – including our taste-test of some of them.
USA TODAY tries McDonald's Global Menu items
I visited McDonald's corporate headquarters on Sept. 24 and tried the onion rings, Salted Caramel McFlurry with Oreo and three different McPops − dulce de leche, chocolate hazelnut and berry.
Of the nearly $13 "meal," my favorite was the McPops, specifically the dulce de leche and berry flavors. The soft, pillowy dough was so satisfying to eat and though I wish there was a bit more filling, I wanted to order three more of the dulce de leche before I left the restaurant (though I restrained).
If you're a fan of McDonald's (or trying international treats) and find yourself in the Chicagoland area, stopping in the corporate headquarters could be a fun way to spend lunch. However, I'm not sure I would travel out of my way for the world's most average onion rings.

How long will the Global Menu items be available?
The McDonald's corporate headquarters in Chicago always offers Global Menu items. A new round of Global Menu items will debut in November, a team member told USA TODAY.
Do international items ever come to U.S. McDonald's?
Though international menu items are typically exclusive to the corporate headquarters, McDonald's did launch a limited Around the World menu in 2019 across the United States. The menu featured the Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger from Spain, Tomato Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich from Canada, Cheesy Bacon Fries from Australia and Stroopwafel McFlurry from the Netherlands, according to a news release.
