The Oreo section of the cookie aisle at your grocery store may look a little different next year.
An executive for Mondelez International, the producer of the famed sandwich cookies, said last week the company is planning a relaunch of the Oreo brand
in 2027, including changes to the packaging, more offerings to hit more price points and, in some cases, "new formulas that will result in better labels."Luca Zaramella, Mondelez's chief financial offices, said at a Barclay's conference that despite nearing $5 billion in global revenue, there are still avenues for growth for the brand.

'A 360-degree relaunch'
"It is a brand that we want to relaunch in 2027, and it is a 360-degree relaunch," Zaramella said at the conference. "It is more than logo change. We are going to improve
the packaging of Oreo."
Zaramella said Oreo is going to aim to hit more price points and be able to provide "access to the brand through different channels," in addition to quality improvements.
"The teams around the world are thinking of activating the full relaunch in 2027 in a way that is going to really make a difference for the brand itself and for Mondelez," Zaramella said.
When contacted by USA TODAY, the company said it will "have more to share soon about our plans for 2027."
“As our fans know, the Oreo brand continues to innovate and find new ways to reach consumers around the world, and we’re excited about what’s in the pipeline," the company added in the emailed statement on Sept. 18.
What are some brands from Mondelez?
Mondelez, which also owns snack brands such as Ritz, Chips Ahoy, Cadbury and Belvita, among others, estimates that about 60 billion Oreo cookies are sold each year, with about a third of that total selling in the United States. The company says over 500 billion Oreo cookies have been sold since the first cookie was developed in 1912.
Oreo's three new flavors still in stores, fans encouraged to vote on favorite
Earlier this summer, the cookie brand revealed exclusively to USA TODAY that it is launching three new limited-edition cookie flavors at once and letting fans vote for their favorite. The winning flavor will be brought back in 2027, the company said in a news release.
The three new flavors include:
- Oreo Banana Pudding Cookies: Feature layers of sweet banana and vanilla pudding in a deliciously delectable dual-layered creme, sandwiched between vanilla wafer cookies.
- Oreo Deep Fried Cookies: Feature iconic golden-fried, doughy flavor baked into the cookie itself with fried dough-flavored cookies wrapping layers of dark chocolate and fried dough-flavored creme.
- Oreo Chicken and Waffles Cookies: Feature a signature waffle texture and embossment and dual-layered creme, both infused with sweet and savory flavor notes for a fried chicken and maple syrup flavor in every bite.

The cookies were made available at grocery and retail stores across the U.S. on Aug. 24 for a limited time, while supplies last.
To cast your vote for your favorite flavor, customers can scan the QR code on any of the three limited-edition packs or visit Oreo.com/twist-lick-vote. The company said the voting window will remain open through Oct. 12.
The winning flavor will be crowned on Oct. 13 and will join the 2027 Oreo cookie lineup for a limited time.
