Cameron Young capped off a remarkable turnaround at the Tour Championship on Friday, Aug. 28 with some humor given the circumstances related to his performance.
The 29-year-old went from last place to tied atop the leaderboard after an 8-under 62 in Round 2 of the PGA Tour's season-ending event while playing alone after J.J. Spaun withdrew from the tournament because of a shoulder injury. So when he holed an eagle putt at No. 18 to close the round, Young had a little fun and did a fake handshake with the partner he never had on Friday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
"Honestly, it was kind of nice," Young told Golf Channel about playing solo. "It was kind of nice to be totally on your own."

Young, ranked No. 3 in the world golf rankings, had seven birdies over his opening 11 holes of Round 2. He did not miss a fairway or a green in regulation during the sequence and moved to within one shot of the lead with an hour left before Lee was set to tee off.
Young was the only golfer over par until he birdied No. 16 on Thursday after bogeys on three of his first five holes of the tournament. Despite driving the ball longer on average than anyone else in Round 1, he finished among the worst in the field in greens in regulation. He had been in a late-season swoon after finishing outside the top-35 in his previous three starts leading into the Tour Championship.
