Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Wednesday, July 29, that Mia Bieniemy, the wife of Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, is no longer in the intensive care unit as she continues her recovery.

Mia Bieniemy suffered multiple gunshot wounds during an incident at the couple's Virginia home as Eric Bieniemy and the Chiefs began training camp Sunday, July 26. Eric Bieniemy's son, Elijah Bieniemy, was arrested and charged with three felonies.

"She's doing great, better than she was," Reid said.

"Making progress," he added. "So we're happy about that."

Bieniemy is still with his wife in Virginia, and "that's important," Reid said.

"Eric's a big part of this. (We) love having him here. But right now, it's important that he takes care of business.

And everybody knows that. So everybody's game is picked up and they're all working hard. Eric will be back soon enough to jump in there and do his thing."
