A heat advisory is in effect across all of South Florida today, with maximum heat indices expected to range from around 105 to 110 degrees. Meanwhile, an elevated fire risk will be present in parts of South Florida early this week.
That's according to the National Weather Service office Miami
. Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties are all under today's advisory, which will last from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 17.Maximum heat indices will range from 105 to 110 degrees today, and the NWS recommends staying hydrated, limiting "strenuous time outdoors in the afternoon," using air conditioning if you have it and wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing.

Elevated fire risk this week
According to the NWS, there's an elevated fire risk for "inland portions of South Florida" on Monday and Tuesday.
In Miami-Dade County, the Radio Tower Fire had burned 700 acres as of Aug. 16 at 7:28 p.m., and was 95% contained, according to the Florida Forest Service. The Trail Fire, which burned 25 acres, was 80% contained as of Aug. 14 at 8:05 a.m.
In Palm Beach County, the H1 Fire had burned 3,600 acres as of Aug. 16 at 3:58 p.m., and was 50% contained. The H1 East Fire had burned 200 acres as of Aug. 16 at 5:20 p.m., and was 10% contained.

Miami: A high near 93, heat index values as high as 106
Fort Lauderdale: A high near 96, heat index values as high as 107.
West Palm Beach: A high near 92, heat index values as high as 106
