Porto’s Bakery & Cafe, the Los Angeles County-born chain known for wallet-friendly sweets and long lines, is expanding in Southern California—and its proximity to a nearby airport could make it an important stop for visitors, too.
The Cuban bakery announced it’s opening a location in Ontario, a city of over 180,000 people and home to the Ontario International Airport, which serves millions each year. The bakery teased a new location in the Inland Empire on social media earlier this week.
What’s Porto’s? Menu highlights and locations
Over the years, the family-led bakery chain, which began with Rosa Porto in the 1970s, has expanded to Downey, Glendale, Burbank, West Covina, Buena Park, Northridge, and soon the Downtown Disney District.
Their menu features an array of pastries like their guava
and cheese strudels and pineapple empanadas; cakes such as Milk ’n Berries and the rich Parisian chocolate cake; savory items like their stuffed potato balls and sandwiches paired with plantain chips; and beverages like iced lattes and mango smoothies.
The new location serves the Inland Empire, and social media users have quickly expressed gratitude — and asked that Porto’s come north to Sacramento and beyond California, including Las Vegas and San Antonio.
While Porto’s didn’t say where the new location will be, shots in the social media announcement show a large, empty lot near Interstate 10 and the Archibald Avenue and Inland Empire Boulevard street signs.
