Jake Paul took a verbal shot Wednesday, Sept. 30 during the press conference to promote the heavyweight fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
It came from Turki Alalshikh, the Saudi government official who has led that country’s efforts to promote big fights. Such as Fury vs. Joshua.
"Big thanks to the champion…’’ Alalshikh said, referring to Joshua during the press event in London. “AJ helped boxing and saved boxing with Netflix, kicking out YouTuber from the boxing.’’
Of course that YouTuber is Paul.
Joshua broke Paul’s jaw in two places with a knockout blow during their fight on Dec. 19. The punch came in the sixth round, and Paul was knocked down a total of four times during the fight in Miami.
Paul has not boxed since that brutal knockout.
After the bout, he went to the hospital, where he had surgery.
Paul, 27, had a second surgery and has yet to resume training, although he has said he’s negotiating with potential opponents for his next fight.
Paul is 12-2 with seven knockouts, and while sidelined from boxing, has been visible with entrepreneurial projects and as co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions.
