Tottenham faces Coventry City on Monday, Oct. 19, still looking for its first Premier League win this season. Two important players are trying to get healthy in time for the match.
Roberto De Zerbi's side is currently at the bottom of the league standings with three draws and three losses in its first six games. Spurs managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in their last game, thanks to a late goal from Dominic Solanke, even after Rodrigo Bentancur received a red card.
Spurs will be without Bentancur for the first of his three-game suspension. Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski are also facing late fitness tests.
Here is how Tottenham could line up against Coventry City:
Tottenham predicted lineup vs. Coventry City
- Goalkeeper: Kinsky
- Defense: Gray, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Udogie
- Midfield: Bergvall, Tonali
- Attacking midfield: Kudus, Gallagher, Sávio
- Forward: Solanke
With Bentancur suspended, there's an open spot next to Sandro
Tonali. Lucas Bergvall seems to be the top choice to fill it. Archie Gray should likely start at right back if Porro isn't fit enough to play the full 90 minutes.
Tottenham team news vs. Coventry City
- Out: Mudryk, Odobert, Simons
- Questionable: Porro, Kulusevski
- Suspended: Bentancur
Will Pedro Porro play vs. Coventry City?
While Kulusevski's potential return is enticing, Porro is the player with the clearest chance to get back into the lineup. The vice-captain injured his hamstring about 19 minutes into the 3-2 loss against Aston Villa on Sept. 19 and hasn't played since.
Porro traveled with the team to Old Trafford to support his teammates. He also hinted on Instagram this week that he's almost ready to play. Spurs could definitely benefit from his experience during this tough start to the season. He'll need to prove he's match fit ahead of kickoff to be given his spot in the lineup back.
