Tommy Lee Jones is making a rare appearance on the red carpet following the death of his daughter.
The actor, 80, appeared at the premiere of FX's "The Lowdown" Season 2 in Austin and posed with costars Ethan Hawke, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Killer Mike and more, wearing a navy windowpane plaid blazer with a light blue colored shirt and jeans.
The appearance marks his first in nearly three years, and comes nine months after the death of his daughter, Victoria Jones.
Paramedics found the 34-year-old in the hallway of a San Francisco hotel just before 3 a.m. on Jan. 1 and declared her dead on scene, the San Francisco Fire Department told USA TODAY at the time. The youngest child of Tommy Lee Jones and ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley died from the "toxic
effects of cocaine," with her death determined to be accidental.

"The Lowdown" is Tommy Lee Jones' first onscreen appearance since the tragedy, alongside the independent film "Angel and the Badman," a remake of the 1947 John Wayne classic, released Friday, Oct. 9.
Jones plays Lee Raybon Sr., the estranged father of Hawke's character, across two episodes of the crime comedy-drama's second season.

Hawke told USA TODAY that witnessing Jones work on set "made me proud to be an actor."
"It's an odd life, and, to be really good at it, it's extremely difficult. He's part of the same order that I am. He's been on the same road for 25 years longer. And he's really, really smart, and that comes with a weight," Hawke said. "He's been through the fires of life, and I look forward to people seeing Tommy in the show, because he doesn't just make a cameo in the show. He's giving a performance, and it's a great one."
