A pair of games between Super 15 West teams headlined this last weekend's schedule and gave fans a clearer picture of the alignment of California and Arizona high school football.
No. 1 Santa Margarita (CA) defeated No. 3 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) 21-7, utilizing a pick-six, flea flicker and a blocked field goal
to take down one of the best teams in the state and country. The Eagles maintain their spot in pole position. The Chandler (AZ) vs. Centennial (Peoria, AZ) game came down to the wire, with a goal-line stand, safety and sack all in the final minute to close out a defense-filled game between the two Arizona teams. Chandler got the win, holding onto its
spot as a top-three team in the state, while Centennial slipped in the Super 15.
In Washington, Puyallup got vengeance for a playoff loss last season.
With the final few weeks of the regular season under way, see the full rankings below.
1. Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA)
Record: 8-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, vs. JSerra Catholic (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Santa Margarita's win over St. John Bosco reaffirmed its spot atop the West and national rankings. With victories over three teams that have spent time in the top 6 of the Super 25, no resume matches that of Santa Margarita. The toughest part of the regular season is over for the Eagles, but their final two opponents, JSerra and Orange Lutheran, are no slouches. They'll need to continue playing with determination to finish the regular season without a loss.
2. Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV)
Record: 7-1
Next game: Thursday, Oct. 29, vs. Mater Academy East Las Vegas (NV), 7 p.m. PST
As usual, Nevada competition cannot touch Bishop Gorman. This week, it was a 69-0 victory. Plus, there's only one other team in the country that can say it beat both Mater Dei and St. John Bosco. The only thing that can stop the Gaels is themselves, and that doesn't look to be a risk at this time.
3. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA)
Record: 8-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, at Notre Dame (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Sierra Canyon finally breaks through into the top three after yet another week of domination. The Trailblazers haven't allowed a point since September, and have scored fewer than 40 points only once since August. Sophomore Jaxson Davis starred this week, recording a pick-six, blocked punt, forced fumble and three tackles for loss, according to MaxPreps.
4. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA)
Record: 6-2
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, at Servite (CA), 7 p.m. PST
St. John Bosco scored first against Santa Margarita but was not able to get through the Eagles defense again. It's rare for the Braves to be the underdog, but they were on Friday, and they were unable to come away with a win. They have a chance to bounce back and finish their regular season strong against Servite and then Mater Dei.
5. Hamilton (Chandler, AZ)
Record: 7-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, at Liberty (AZ), 7 p.m. MT
Hamilton had no trouble against a good Pinnacle team, primarily doing its damage on the ground as the team rushed for a total of 295 yards and four touchdowns on 41 carries. Jeremiah Jones is emerging as a big play threat in the back field, adding to his 7.6 yards per carry average by posting a season-best 138 yards and a TD on 17 carries.
6. De La Salle (Concord, CA)
Record: 7-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, vs. San Ramon Valley (CA), 7:15 p.m. PST
Monte Vista is a solid team, entering the weekend 7-0. De La Salle shut them out. The Spartans handed the Mustangs their first loss of the season with a 51-0 performance, the majority of points coming in the first half before easing off in the second. QB Jaxon Loftin had a perfect game, going 8-for-8 for 93 yards and two touchdowns, and backup QB Jackson Mims threw for a touchdown on the sole pass he attempted.
7. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA)
Record: 6-2
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Orange Lutheran (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Mater Dei has turned around its offense, scoring 79 points across its last two games after combining for only 25 in the three games before. Sure, those three teams are elite, but no Trinity League team is a pushover. The Monarchs are leaning heavier on freshman QB Paytyn Guess, who has four touchdowns to no interceptions in the last two games after going 1:2 TD/INT in the previous three games, and are getting hot at the right time.
8. Folsom (CA)
Record: 8-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Del Oro (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Folsom trailed at the half, but slow and steady wins the race. The Bulldogs scored in each quarter and held Oak Ridge scoreless in the second half, getting a 28-21 win. They picked off QB Nick Johnson three times in the game and QB Brody Rudnicki rushed for three touchdowns as Folsom took down its rival.
9. Basha (Chandler, AZ)
Record: 5-2
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Brophy College Prep (AZ), 7 p.m. MT
Basha is finding a new gear on offense, breaking 40 points in both of the last two games. This weekend, QB Jake Rogers threw for 293 passing yards and two touchdowns and RB Noah Roberts had a pair of first-quarter rushing touchdowns, according to AZPreps365, beating Mesa 45-21. The reigning champs have three more games to earn a spot in the Open Division playoff bracket.
10. Chandler (AZ)
Record: 6-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, at Valley Vista (AZ), 7 p.m. MT
Chandler had its most impressive win of the season: After 22 days off due to an idle week and a forfeit victory, the Wolves got through their rust and beat Centennial 20-16, with a massive goal-line stand saving the day. The new eligibility of TE Gage Scheurn opens up new elements for the offense, which he showed through 136 receiving yards, and DB Austin Reese continues his ascent, credited with 20 tackles, four TFLs and an interception.
11. Liberty (Peoria, AZ)
Record: 6-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Hamilton (AZ), 7 p.m. MT
Liberty is as good as any team in Arizona. The Lions will have a chance to prove it this weekend, facing the best team in Arizona. ALL-USA Midseason receiver Braxton Huynh had 161 yards this weekend, and Kaden Miller had a pick-six. Since its loss to Basha, the team has outscored its three opponents 147-20.
12. Mountain Ridge (Herriman, UT)
Record: 10-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 30, vs. Cedar Valley (UT), 6 p.m. MT
The first Super 15 West team to reach the 10-0 mark, Mountain Ridge had its tightest game of the season this weekend, a 21-13 victory over Westlake. WR Xander Thayer is up to 10 touchdowns on the year following a 141-yard, two-TD day.
13. Centennial (Corona, CA)
Record: 5-3
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, at Chaparral (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Jaden Walk-Green is back at the right time for Centennial after having knee surgery this offseason, but now ALL-USA WR Quentin Hale may miss time after hurting his shoulder in the win over Norco, according to the Press Enterprise. It's an unfortunate turn for Centennial, who has scored over 40 points in all five wins and suffered its three losses by a combined five points. The team has two games left to finish rounding into shape.
14. Puyallup (WA)
Record: 7-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Emerald Edge (WA), 7 p.m. PST
Puyallup got regular-season revenge this past weekend on the team that knocked it out of the 2025 playoffs, beating Sumner 36-34 behind a pair of rushing touchdowns from Malcolm Akuffo. and receiving TDs from J’Isaiah Mitchell, per the News Tribune. The Vikings are now 7-0 and will loo to finish their regular season strong.
15. Centennial (Peoria, AZ)
Record: 6-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 23, at Mountain Ridge (AZ), 7 p.m. MT
Centennial was feet away from knocking out Chandler, facing a set of downs from inside the five in the waning minute of the Friday matchup. The Coyotes offense was unable to get through the Chandler defense, picking up their first loss, but there were plenty of positives, particularly on the defensive front. They got knocked down but have a good chance to get back up this coming week.
