New York City has issued a travel advisory ahead of Tuesday's expected rainy conditions which could lead to flooding, officials say.
The city's Emergency Management agency warned New Yorkers to add extra time for travel and gave tips on what to do if they do encounter a flooded basement or subway station.

NYC issues travel advisory over rain
A travel advisory, issued by the NYCEM, is in effect from Tuesday, July 28 at 8 a.m. to Wednesday, July 29 at 8 a.m.
"We are urging people to plan extra travel time and be cautious while traveling," the agency wrote on X.
A flood watch has also been issued by the National Weather Service, lasting from Tuesday, July 28 at 8 a.m. to Wednesday, July 29 at 8 p.m. The NYCEM says that 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected citywide, with
"locally higher amounts."
Rainfall rates could exceed two inches per hour which may cause flooding.
The NYC agency warned that those who live in basement apartments should prepare to move to higher ground, and to avoid flooded subway stations.
NYCEM urged to take public transit if you have to, and to never drive or walk through flooded streets.
