Amid reports of Sean "Diddy" Combs' "pampered" lifestyle in prison, his release date has been pushed back.
The rap music mogul, who is behind bars at New Jersey's FCI Fort Dix serving a 50-month federal prison sentence, is set for release on March 2, 2028, according to the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons' inmate records viewed by USA TODAY. The move comes days after that release date was set for Jan. 21, 2028.
USA TODAY has reached out to Combs' rep for comment.
The news also comes after NBC News' report about Combs' life behind bars, revealing the hip-hop producer apparently has fellow inmates cook and clean for him, give him massages, and has access to outside alcohol and a cellphone, considered contraband.
Juda Engelmayer, Combs' rep, previously
dismissed the report in a statement to USA TODAY. "The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs's life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news," Engelmayer said.
Combs' release date has been moved multiple times since his incarceration, with his initial release set for May 8, 2028, after a jury found him guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in a July 2025 federal case.
His release date had just been moved up to January 2028. In November, his release was previously pushed back to June 2028, days after Combs' representative denied a report that claimed the Bad Boy Records founder had created and consumed alcohol in prison.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons has noted it does "not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual, including release plans." However, general reasons a release date would be moved include conduct, time credits from approved programs and activities and credit for time served before sentencing.
In a letter to the judge ahead of his original sentencing, Combs, 56, said that while incarcerated he has gotten sober "for the first time in 25 years," has been attending therapy and started a mentorship program for his fellow inmates.
His legal team is also still trying to appeal his conviction, after a bombshell trial in which he was convicted on charges related to the transportation of two former girlfriends – Casandra "Cassie" Ventura Fine and the anonymous "Jane" – as well as sex workers for the intent of prostitution. Combs, who has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct, is still facing upwards of 70 civil lawsuits across the country.
